I'm trying Fire Fox for the first time and there is like a thousand add-ons. Any recommendations? Thanks. |

I will never use IE again or a any other naked browser after seeing how much crap is tracking your website visits. Also Private browsing (for umm ya know kinda sites) Customize Google (tamps down google's information gathering) I have an assortment of other stuff like You Player, An external and internal IP address tracker, TOR, Foxy Proxy, and Adblocker+ And old factory black is IMO the coolest looking skin. |

This one is awesome. Put it on my dads Fire Fix and he called me to tell he thanks.

About 75% of the addons to Firefox that I try, make it so that I can only have one version of Firefox open at a time. Once the one browser is open, if I try to open a second browser, it apparently opens, but is not visible and cannot be made visible. So basically, I gave up on getting new addons for Firefox. I have NOscript and a dictionary addon. |

It stops scripts from running, you have to allow them to run on a page or site. Can be annoying at first, as so many sites use Java, Flash, etc. scripts, but you'll get used to it. Two of the most important things, especially for a Windows user: it stops ads which cleverly bypass the pop up blocker, and it stops dangerous scripts from running if you happen to go to or have been redirected to a poisoned site. I tried Adblocker, the pop up still shows up, just no content, so you'll still have to close the blank pop up window. NoScript stops those altogether. After a few days, once you've whitelisted most of the sites where you do allow scripts to run in order to have full functionality on the sites, it's not annoying. I've seen how a malware from a poisoned site run without notification, from either IE or Firefox. NoScript is the key, and it gets updated all the time. |

I have one where I allow cookies, but the browser prompts me before accepting. This is the one I use to surf ARF and other sites I interact with. I have another profile where cookies are not allowed, and other security settings are set to the max. Then set up a "skin" in one or the other, so you can visually tell which is which. |

I suspect that is because I have Firefox clear out all the cookies when I close (except for a select list I keep, like ARFCOM).Quoted: About 75% of the addons to Firefox that I try, make it so that I can only have one version of Firefox open at a time. When I want to go somewhere that must set cookies, I just use IE, and then delete everything when I am done. |
