I need to find a nice gunsafe. Does anybody have any experience with these?

Looking for something that's in my price range (around $600 or less)

Preferably something with fire protection.

Any ideas? Links, and pics are welcome!

I purchased mine from a local ad in the paper ( used but in exc shape )

If you have immediate access to $600-800 and keep your eye on craigslist / local paper and maybe let real estate friends know you are looking for a nice used one ... something should turn up every couple a weeks.

They get snatched up quick, so you have to have funds and a way to move it promptly all good to go.

Savings are about 40% off of retail and you are getting a nicer / higher quality set-up.

Got mine from Academy Sports. It is a Cannon that holds 36 guns and is fire rated for 30 minutes at 1200 degrees F. I paid around $590.00 for it.

I live in a smaller town, and there aren't many affluent folks selling off their safes here. Thanks for the idea though. I'll keep my eye open in the paper.

I think Sam's Club has the Winchester safes in this price range. I forget how many guns they are capable of holding, but I'm pretty sure you can pick one up that'll accomodate about 18 guns for around $600. So you might look there. Otherwise, the Red Head safes available from Bass Pro (which are made by Winchester) might be another option. But keep in mind, safes in this price range typically have less fire protection than the high dollar safes. However, security can still be quite good.
