Bottled a kit Dunkel today OG range was supposed to be 1.049-1.053 mine 1.054 fine.
SG going into secondary was1.027 looking good. FG range was supposed to be 1.012-1.015 mine stuck at 1.025. Anyone have an idea why. |

I think what the guys are getting at is that you should only move it to a secondary after it's completed fermenting.
When you transfered it to the secondary you left active yeast behind in the primary, hence the stuck fermentation now. How many times/days have you measured 1.025 in a row? I think at this point in time, if you've measured 1.025 over a week or so, you could re-pitch yeast or learn from your mistake and bottle/keg it at 1.025 and have a very sweet tasting Dunkel. |

This is my first kit.Directions said rack to secondary after fermantation slows (4-6 days) we transfered at 7 days, was not
bubbling. Was in secondary for 17 days, recommended secondary for 2 weeks, graviy did not change for 3 days, but was not bubbling hardly at all during 2 weeks. Gravity went from 1.027 when it went in secondary to 1.025 when we bottled. Temp was steady 70 degrees. Wife thinks I didnt aerate enough after pitching yeast. |

Kind of hard to say why though. What's the recipe and what yeast did you use? |

Some people don't aerate at all and seem to get good results so I don't think that is it. I would think at 7 days you would have been mostly done. That is based on how, typically, my ferments have gone. Since you bottled already I would go do another kit. Get the kit from one of the big name internet suppliers as their ingredients will likely be fresh. When you buy those box kits, like Brewers Best, you have no idea how long all of the ingredients have been sitting there. It is possible your yeast pack was not viable if you got an old kit. Next time only rack out of primary based on gravity readings. You can't go by time or air lock activity as every fermentation is different. Hopefully your bottles carbonate and don't explode. Then you'll just have a sweet beer. |
