I have a Filson oil treated jacket. This summer, mice got into my shop and made my damn jacket a nest with mouse piss and shit stuck to it. It was an expensive jacket. Can those be washed?

No, it cannot be washed.

My advice, call Filson and see what they recommend.

I was wrong.

I'd hit it with a pressure washer, and re-oil

There should be a tag inside, but I'm pretty sure you're just supposed to wipe them down. I think Filson will reapply the oil/wax coating they use, or that may be Barbour.

Under "Rewaxing Garments".

That right there.  I'd be surprised if it was not salvageable though.

Waxing is a fairly straight forward process. If they didn't chew your coat to shred you should be good to go after washing and waxing.

Mine all came with a tin of wax in one of the pockets.  Hose it off and rewax.

Yeah, it came with wax but that was years ago. They did chew some holes but not too many or too big. The urine and shit is really welded on there. Damn.

how to wax incase you want to try it

I'd try contacting filson to see what they recommend. I'm sure even the nastiest dingle berries can be washed out some how.

If you do wash it, use someone else's washing machine. That oil and wax will make it nasty, if not fuck it up.

Filson will repair the holes for you, free of charge at least last time I had it done.

Use a little bit of soap Ivory brand seems not to affect anything, to clean out the mouse pee and poop, scrape it out if needed.
Rinse well
Hang to dry a day or two
Send to Filson, have holes sewn up, and re-waxed

Enjoy coat upon return in two weeks.
