Anyone out there have any experience with FilePro? Our office for some damn reason has a few old databases used to track our equipment inventory and some clients. The software is listed as "FilePro Plus 4.1", and is nothing but a bunch of DOS batch files it seems like. It is running on a Win2000 box and runs fine...  But I have to work with some of the data and they have crap in there dating back to 92!

So what I want to do is take out any data prior to 2000. There are over 50,000 records in the database and 90% of them don't matter to me or the company anymore. I tried searching based on date and tagging those records for deletion, but for the life of me I can't see a way to tag records or select multiple records at a time. I've been having to browse through the records and delete each one, one by one. After about 80 of these, I gave up and came here!

Is it this software?

If so, their support page is here.

If you can't  discover their methods of selection and deletion from their support section, I'd suggest exporting the data to a database system you're more familiar with and working it from there.

That is the first place I went to look for the answers... yet there were none. Our version is an older version that they don't support anymore. The data is stored really weird too. I'll keep messing with it and see what I can do. I'd really like to just grab the data, use it in another program and ditch this old crap that they still use. We are a freaking software development company and they still have the oldest crap here and there that they still use.

I love the outdated and unsupported - er, I mean legacy software.  Check here and scroll down to Import/Export Examples.  The file fpexport.zip looks like it might interest you, if that function is supported in the version you're stuck with.
