What methods have worked for removing rust and keeping it from continuing or spreading?

Any real wonder products out there that actually work?

Lots of warm and very salty wather should do the trick.

A local company here where I live makes a rust converter that works great. I tried it on an old rusty Mustang rear end and when it cured or dried it looked like the rearend was painted black. The rust never came back. The only reason I know about them and thier products is that an employee gave me some to try. If I remember right it isn't expensive either. Here's a link. Thanks Arvin

Arvin, the rust converter was the stuff I was looking for. I remember using this stuff a while back and it turned the rusty area on floorboards into a paintable/primable area, and stopped further rusting.
Thanks

fast1,
That stuff works like a charm and isn't priced that badly from what I remember, plus a little goes a really long way. Thanks Arvin

Well, at one time there was Naval Jelly.  Don't know if it's still around, though.  Another was some acetone-based product that performed like Arvin described, but I just cannot remember the name.

There is stuff called Flitz, it's made in Germany, but wonderful stuff. I will remove light rust, polish, and prevent future rusting.
