Fox news...
The Bureau of Land Management announced Saturday that it has concluded its mission to remove illegal cattle from a rural Nevada range after a tense week-long standoff with a rancher and militia supporters. "Based on information about conditions on the ground, and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of the public," the statement read. |

In other words we will monitor and arrest him when he is unsuspecting, then just take the cattle while he's in jail. Or They are just falling back to regroup, assess, strategize a plan of attack

If true, it makes you wonder what they are up to or if they were just full of shit to begin with! No doubt. I am suspicious as well. They were full of it to begin or they will wait until it calms down. Then arrest him one day while he is at the local farm store. |

If true, it makes you wonder what they are up to or if they were just full of shit to begin with! Every second that goes on there's more of a chance that somebody gets killed...and over this kind of bullshit there's going to be a lot of public outcry if people get killed over some fucking cows. Not to mention the horrific PR damage the feds have done to themselves by rolling out a goddamn full-scale operation on this nonsense. Somebody up there remembers Waco and Ruby Ridge and at least has enough sense to try and prevent another. This has been a clusterfuck of epic proportions from the getgo and perhaps people on the inside who have argued against this kind of nonsense all along are actually starting to penetrate through the legendary fed obtuseness long enough to maybe try something that won't end in dead bodies over bullshit. (Literally) |

What? If I were the feds I would never do this. I would put the hammer down. I am happy if this is true though. Made the statists back down without violence. "The feds" might want to put the hammer down, but the hammer probably isn't very happy about any of this. The public is already thumbing their nose at them; having their enforcers do it too would be worse. |

I hope I'm wrong, but I seriously doubt this is over. Same here... No need to go into a situation that looks like you have a good chance of getting monkey stomped, and/or shot full of holes. Pull back and the the IRS,DEA,EPA or whatever .gov three letter agency can fuck the enemy the hardest. For those of you not in the western states, the BLM has been growing and getting more and more legal powers, with a bigger and bigger "us verses them " mentality They will not be amused the serfs made them blink. |

If they stole his cattle, and the issue was his cattle grazing, then isn't this a win for the federal government? They got what they wanted and the rancher is left holding his dick in his hand. |

S they are goig to come when everyone has gone home, or poison or kill his cattle at a later time. |

If it is over, we have all the people who rushed there to support the ranchers to thank. Good on them. American spirit is not dead and that's reassuring to me. The federal government stole his cattle. No one did anything to stop it. This is mission accomplished for the federal government. Am I missing something? If so, please let me know as I have been following but I may have missed some details. |

They'll let him win... Give it a few months for everything to calm down... Then his house will have a spontaneous natural gas leak that ignites... Nah. More likely IRS audits til they find some mistakes to charge him with. Most conservatives and liberals alike are more than willing to throw "tax cheats" under the bus. They (and a solid minority on this forum) will gleefully clap their hands as the Feds toss a "tax cheat" in prison. |

It's all about PR, I think they hoped it would all go down and be finished before people knew it was Harry Reid with his chinese solar porkbelly garbage corp deal pushing these folks.
So now they are backing off for a bit. Supposedly that solar company from china, the one his son did a 5 billion deal with is wanting that land. Hence Reid driving the government to get things done. |

Calm the fuck down and adjust your attitude. I've actually been *watching* Fox News the last few days and I thought they said they had collected ALL the cattle. It's still a win for the feds. He's going to go bankrupt now = a win for the feds. They don't need to collect all of them, just enough for him to have to sell off the rest. |
| yeah...why confront him? It would be a PR nightmare. The fine still stands or will be cut into by selling off his cattle they seized. They would likely seize more if they haven't already taken them all and use that against his outstanding fines. In the end they can just declare the price of the sold cattle was enough to satisfy the outstanding fine and come out looking so fair and judicious while the Rancher is left in ruins to figure out a way to rebuild his herd from scratch..... |

That's still $380,000 |
