I'm fed up with having PMS. Isn't the child-birth and period thing enough? Why do we have to get all bitchy, irritable, crampy and bloated on top of everything else? It's days like this I look foward to menopause.

Have your BF or husband massage the pressure points located about 3 inches on either side of your spine around your lower back area.

That used to be my monthly "chore".

Damn,I just posted in a PMS thread...

Hope you don't mine PMS advice from a man... (ducking from the overhand toss of a hairbrush).

An ex-gf told me once that chugging lots 'n lots 'n lots 'n lots 'n lots 'n lots 'n lots 'n lots 'n lots of water helps. Even though you (ducking from the thrown vase) retain water, the reason you do so is that the water holds stuff in suspension (ducking from the thrown toilet bowl), which your body needs to eliminate. so by chugging water, you eliminate the (ducking from the thrown dishwasher) stuff that your body needs to eliminate most. That was her explaination anyway. (duck and cover from the double 12 gauge emerging from the closet).

Bye!

A good vitamin B complex will help, especially if you add vitamin C and yep, drink as much water as you can stand.

I take vitamin B complex almost every day.  It is the only vitamin that I actually notice if I miss it.  I also think women would benefit greatly from adding the Omegas to their diet, be it vitamin or from foods like salmon.

I find that birth control pills seem to make any PMS symptoms more pronounced.

Camomile tea and kava kava are great helpers for me. Very relaxing and helps with cramps. YMMV.

Evening primrose oil capules and raspberry leaf tea are good too.

Yes, it should be taken everyday.  It helps us regulate our hormones better.  Flaxseed oil is another must have suppliment [IMO].  It helps we women promote healthy blood flow and prevents breast cancer.

50mg VB6 2x a day
1000 mg Flaxseed Oil in the morning [you'll be surprised what a boost of energy this will give you.  If you tend to get depressed during ovulation or menstration take 1500mg in the morning].

I'm sorry I am one of the lucky ones who didn't have severe PMS, the most I had was bloating and sometimes a few cramps, thank god for Midol.  However, I would take back the periods over the hot flashes and night sweats that occur anytime and anywhere on a daily basis.  It's going on six years and the doc says it can continue til the day I die.  At least with the period I knew when and how long it was going to be around.

I don't have the problem with PMS either, but that time isn't pleasant either. I have often thought about having surgery but too scared to do it and don't have time to take 6 weeks off of work.
I will try taking the B vit. I give the B complex to hubby so maybe I'll start with it also.

I was lucky in that I did not have a symptom of PMS until I turned 40.  But then I had severe pms - so severe that I went to the doctor and was put on medication for it.  Until then I wasn't sure that pms was real

Thanks Patty, I'm just in a really foul mood and should probably have my laptop and all other forms of communication taken away from me. Everyones suggestions sound great if they would work. Nothing works for me. Each month gets worse and worse and I can't control my mood swings or emotions or anything. I seriously think they need to have a place that woman can go for a week to be away from everyone and everything until they feel normal again. Serious things get ruined because God wanted us to make babies....and then people wonder why there hasn't been a woman president yet

That just makes me feel like CRAP!!  Since my surgery that removed the monthly curse, the hot flashes are murder!  I am just starting to deal with this, "for the rest of my life" is too damn long!

PMS doesn't affect me, since I always act like this.

But yeah, that time of the month is brutal for me.  The cramps I get are the same kind my mom had when she was my age, and she said they were pretty damn close to labor pangs.  I've passed out in school from them before.  That's always fun to explain to your male teacher.

Gabby and DC you should both really try not only the B6 but also the Flaxseed Oil.  The Flaxseed oil will help your body control its hormone surges which is what causes those severe cramping and headaches.  You'll be amazed at the energy boost you get as well.

patty, i may well try the flaxseed oil too, but somehow i got the idea you you were implying gabbers and i are bitchy?!?!!!???!?
