Finally some good news.
Feb. broken shell eggs down 2% from 2008 There were 148 million dozen shell eggs broken during February 2009, down 2% from February 2008, according to a report released by the National Agricultural Statistics Service March 31.
That number is 9% less than the 163 million shell eggs broken the previous month. For the calendar year through February, 311 million dozen shell eggs were broken, down 4% from same period a year earlier. http://usda.mannlib.cornell.edu/usda/current/EggProd/EggProd-03-31-2009.txt |
| That is good, because that would mean that the ranchers can get more money for their eggs. Being in the egg business is not easy, especially when the cost of feed is constantly etc is constantly going up. 2% may not sound like much but when you are talking millions of dozens, that is pretty sizable chunk of money, and in this difficult economy you need every penny you can get. |

Interesting, I say beat those chickens until morale improves and start laying more eggs... |
