Publix Premium Chocolate Trinity. I know, I know... grocery store brand, but if you like dark chocolate this stuff can't be beat. Dark chocolate ice cream, with a fudge swirl and little dark chocolate candies with a soft, dark chocolate center.

- Cold Stone Cake Batter Ice Cream LOADED up (and I mean LOADED) with colored sprinkles. Dangerously addictive.

- I also make my own using half & half, sugar, cream, and vanilla bean in an ice cream maker. Makes a really clean, almost refreshing ice cream.

It's hard for me to choose. All the name-brand stuff has been equally good for me in my experience. I've never really had to deal with "bad" ice cream. Ice cream doesn't seem to be something you can really get wrong... it's almost like someone has to try in order to fail at ice cream.

I've had green tea Ice cream, pretty good stuff, then Black Walnut, then Strawberry. I would never eat Ben and Jerrys, I read once that 70% of their workers were gay, I don't like those odds that just one of them is sick enough to add his own cream.

My mom also has a cuisinart ice cream/gelato maker which she uses all the time. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's OK.

As a kid we grew up near a local ice-cream manufacturer in central Ohio (Velvet, just outside Utica).

I miss it.
