Shows the true dangers of motorsport racing... Fatal crash Compilation |
|
Some pretty nasty ones in that compilation. If you know what to look for (and where to look for it), there are bodies doing really weird sh*t in three or four of the wrecks. That NASCAR one where the car was just sitting on the outside by the wall for ten seconds or so and then got creamed was freakin' terrible. |
|
the worst was the NASCAR one where he guy spun out tapped the wall and wound up in the exit of the corner sitting perpendicular to the track just waiting for some one to come out of the corner and T bone him. And they did. Like waiting for the lights to go out |

This video shows what happened right after Senna's crash. Senna's crash aftermath |
That one was horrible. The 1st 2 cars avoided him but that 3rd one plowed right in to him as if he didn't even see him there. |
|
Graphic warning Turned to giblets. But IIRC the guy lived, just lost both legs and went back to racing. |

This reminds me of a curious story. When I was 10 years old, my friend and I decided that throwing darts at an ordinary dartboard was boring. We rummaged around and found a poster of some bloke that we thought made a brilliant target. We replace the dartboard outside the apartment-building with this poster and proceeded to happily throw darts at it. We had a merry old time. If I recall correctly, we competed on which one of us could hit the bloke in the eye the fastest. It was a rather difficult task, and a lot of fun. As we laughed and threw darts, our neighbours occasionally walked past us, snorted in a repugnant fashion and scuffled off; looking rather insulted. We didn't really pay any attention to this as we were thoroughly enjoying ourselves. Later I found out why our neighbours disapproved of our actions: the bloke in the poster was Ayrton Senna, who had died two days previously. |
Is that Zanardi? |
|
Yup that's the Alex Zanardi crash. Here's the video. youtube.com/watch?v=-wXDQcFRY9I |
A few of those look like decceleration injuries. You stop a human body fast enough and all sort of vital stuff starts to tear, usually the aorta. That one crash where the guy comes straight out of the turn and into the wall was definitively one of those. 200 mph to zero in 2 ft is gonna do some damage. RF |
Wow thats got to be a hell of an upper body workout! |
I saw that live and it was a colossal bummer. I was depressed for a week afterwards. Here's you tube of Mika's crash at Adelaide in 1995. At 3:00 they show the on-board with some shots in slow motion. The way his head moved was kind of sickening to watch. Hakkinen was in a coma for nearly 2 weeks after that accident. |
About 20 years ago I was working as a paramedic in Northern Virginia. A high school boy going about 30-35 miles an hour in a lowered car caught a front frame member on a raised manhole (the repaving was scheduled the next day). The member deformed about 3 inches backwards. The guy died of a ruptured aorta from the deceleration. He even had a seat belt on. |
Yeah, David Purley's actions and body language after... man, I can't imagine how hard that must have been. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mz3ZzSXyWM |
That was horrible |
F1 Hero's |
Wow. |
|
video Some of the unsung heroes of Formula One that died during testing and other races out of the championship. edit: I think the guy that did the video missed a couple... |
Häkkinen survived that crash. They had to give him a tracheotomy right there on the track to save his life but he lived and still raced after he recovered. |
