I have been a long time user of ACDSee on my computers, but the free version I had no longer works on Win7 64 bit. You may be wondering why someone would want to use an image viewing program when I already have Lightroom and Photoshop/Bridge, but I really liked how fast it is and for just viewing images you can't beat some dedicated programs. One option was to go to the latest version of ACDSee, but it was kind of pricey and not something I wanted to entertain after already owning LR3 and PS CS5. The default program is IrFanView, and it was OK. For grins and giggles, I did a search and came across FastStone. For me, FS is a much more versatile program in that it approximates ACDSee more closely. One thing that drove me nuts with IrFanView is that I couldn't use the mouse wheel to scroll through pictures. FS allows for that. The way IFW switches between windowed and full screen views was restricting, and FS is nicer. If you're looking for a free image viewing program, I'd suggest you give FastStone a try. |

I use FastStone with customers all the time. I'll use the feature of selecting up to 4 shots to compare on the screen at the same time. You can have up most of the EXIF data on the image, mouse left-right & up-down any where on the image, scroll up & down through the magnification, right click to delete an image out of the folder, check histogram & much more.
