I was able to locate a few friends I haven't seen in years. Beyond that, useless.

Eh I've used it to reconnect with tons of old gradeschool and jr. high friends that I lost track of 20 years ago.  Pretty interesting for that and keeping in touch with people.

I recently joined.  All of my blood relatives are together there.  It seems OK to me.  A great way to stay connected and reconnect with my relatives.  I am no kid by the way, 53 y/o.

It is what you make of it.

It's like saying "Email, thoughts??" and a hoarde of dipshits screaming "It's gay!!!"

Well, if you use your email for sending and receiving gay shit then yeah I'll go ahead and agree.

I use Facebook to keep track of my bandmates, my riding buddies, family out of state and other people in a convenient place. I don't use it to play games, hit on my married former classmates, or to send stupid ass pictures & videos.

I made an account earlier this year just so I could check out someone's pictures. I very, very rarely sign on though.

I do think it's stupid that people send friend requests just for the sake of increasing their "friend" numbers. I have a friend who uses it a little more often than I do. Lots of people we went to high school with send him "friend requests". He generally accepts them, but neither will ever talk to each other anyway.

Being military, and being far from home it's an easy way to quickly see what a few close friends and family are up to. I spend a grand total of about 5 minutes a day/every other day on there just to catch up to see what my sister, mom, and a couple friends are doing. I like it.

People that play games all day on it and are on it constantly with updates like "going pee now" "going to bed" "waking up" make me

But seeing buddies say "home from A-stan today" is nice.

I had lost touch with my first college roommate nearly 20 years ago.  I found him 15 minutes after I activated my FB account, so that alone makes it worthwhile.

The only good improvement were the photo albums. Ever since then, each change has allowed the network to slide even farther down hill.

people posting on a message board that another message board intended to help friends keep in touch is lame

This +1
I have friends from all over the us, and it is nice to be able to "chat" wall to wall with them and being able to share info and photos easily with all of them at one time. Now that I have it on my pda I'm worse about posting random stuff.....

A big plus one.

Early adopter here, it kind of sucks now except for keeping up with old friends.

Useful for keeping up with friends and (more importantly) being able to see what our son is up to in college without bugging him.

If it went away tomorrow, I'd be fine, and I don't let it intrude on life.

What he said. I've found old friends I'd completely lost touch with, gotten to know a somewhat older cousin much better now, to the point that we meet occasionally for lunches or dinners, and find its a convenient way to keep in touch with other family, old co-workers, whatever. I don't see how anyone could spend much more than a few minutes a day on there, but I guess people find ways.

I use it too keep in contact with folks that I grew up with back in Georgia that I lost touch with as I moved around the world. I also use it to keep in touch with people I work with or run in to at conferences that tend to move a lot or go abroad. IT has purposes.

Why would anyone get hung up on something other people do and go further and call it gay or say its stupid.

Do the people who are saying its stupid realize what many even on other gun boards say about folks on this site? If appearance and worrying about other people and whatt they think are important you may want to avoid this place. It gets laughed at. And frankly because of threads like this where people take a silly website seriously and develop a hatred for it it might deserve that rep.

Don't like it don't go there.

A REALLY good site is linked in. I get at LEAST 1 6 figure salary job offer a week from my resume and recommendations and stuff on linked in.

Is keeping in touch with people silly? Is sitting online posting on a gun board on a nice sunny day silly? Do you find it possible that some people may have a legit use for that but ultimately if someone wants to join and play all the games and stuff that is their bag.

But then again think a soft, junk food slamming adult sitting on Xbox live or whatever wearing a headset playing Mr/Ms Commando game is VERY silly.

But I bet if I ever did it I could find some benefit...

Ok I lied I never see a benefit of sitting in doors for hours playing videos games online or offline for that matter.
