Welp. Just checked stock. My distributors are out COMPLETELY (lest a couple black ones) and were just recently blowing them out...that's usually a sign. Still waiting to hear back from my reps (But it is Friday evening, so...) ETA: I'm hoping this is NOT the case as during COVID, they were one of my highest grossing guns and is/was still one of the highest grossing long guns of all time outside of collectible and boutique stuff. Lately, the SCAR market in my AO as of lately has been fucking dead. |

I'm an LGS owner and MFGs/Distrubutors don't "panic". A little secret: I will say that the industry does and will cause manufactured shortages and will pull and hold back on inventory, however. |

Seems like the older models with the older charging handle design is discontinued. Only reason I could see someone wanting it is for cloning/collecting purposes. If you want an exact or near exact clone of the military SCARs, might want to pick those up before they're gone. I assume a lot of military/police units are upgrading them to the NRCH version. Apparently the upgrade kit is almost $1000 though I am sure mil/LE get a bigger discount. May as well buy a whole 2nd rifle at that price point. |

Just like the 45degree MP5 style selector throw. As it would turn out? It wasn't. But that doesn't help anyone when its determined after the configuration is solidified. ECP's not withstanding. They went back to AR's for 5.56, not because SCAR doesnt beat M4 in every objective metric related to durability and performance. They continued to use M4 because it is on most of the units' TOE/MTOE, and is thus effectively free for the base rifle, as it comes from big Army money. Essentially the choice was "you can have a 2k rifle" or "you can have a free rifle and 2k in accessories via SOPMOD and 'SOF money'". Which would most people chose for a 20-40% improvement on objective metrics? It came down to the "color of money", which is why Mk17 and Mk20 were still fully fielded. Cause there was nothing as good 2009-2011 that they could enhance, either with SOF money, via the jobs program known as NSWC Crane, or O&M funds. |
