Check with TNVC. They are tight with FLIR.
ETA Damn, hope they support their existing product in the field. |

Wow, looks like I should head to the store and buy whatever is in stock? Imagine the prices on them will go up shortly

Flir must be tight with the current VA government.
Both seem to think lowly citizens are nothing more than an object to fleece money from. The difference being one entity steals the money from you via taxes and the other entity fleeces you of that same money via the first that steals it from you. I guess I wont be buying any of the Flir equipment that I have been looking hard at, both the weapon sight and the industrial test equipment that I was considering. Fuck em. |

Is ATN owned by FLIR? If not im sure they are thrilled of this news.
|
|
They might be hedging against citizens and .gov getting into hot exchanges due to VA and all. They would rather be on the good side of the state, so they can supply the equipment that will be used to murder the dissidents.

Government pressure to get it limited before something planned?

I’m guessing they’re ending the FLIR brand name in sales.
Future civilian sales will either go through ATN or another company that they wholesale their technology to. To be honest I kind of get it. Civilian sales is a lot of legwork for arguably little return vs military/govt sales. So let someone else handle civilian sales. Invest in R&D. Move on. It’s especially attractive if they’re gearing up to sell themselves. Either private / venture capitalists or to someone like Boeing / Lockheed / etc. Cuts the corporate headcount down and lowers perceived legal liability. |

I'm not at all up on thermal optics companies, does anyone else make a comparable product in terms of quality, that also sells to filthy civilians?

This shit is getting ridiculous.

Not really at all a problem for them. Companies like FLIR, and L3 and the like make ALOT more off gov’t sales and spares than civilian sales. But at the end of the day if you’re the OEM supplier / R&D leader / etc. It rarely makes sense to compete with who you supply. |

Perfectly happy blowing up or blinding or just plain spying on people with their camera turret-balls, though. Even regimes with awful human rights records.

According to FLIR we just had a meeting with... For some odd reason the {"other thread was locked"} so others here might want to know as we head into Shot Show. Going forward they will only have SCOUT, SCION, PVS, LSX/R and BREACH products available for purchase for consumers. They will not be LE or Mil restricted as some other rumors have surfaced. All their warranty support stays the same. Hope this helps with the info traffic. View Quote Rather, I understood it as the scout, scion, breach, etc would still be available to civilians, while FLIR continues to provide their other TWS stuff exclusively to .mil, .gov customers. ie. other than those specific products, FLIR will restrict everything else to LE/MIL. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/435611/flir_JPG-1236835.JPG View Quote |

Be sure to pay your taxes. So the government can keep buying shit to spy on you with that you won't be allowed to own, yourself.

Yeah. Flir confirmed it on their FB page. There's a thread in the NV forum too. Flir OTS isn't even going to SHOT. While FLIR's most expensive thermal scopes over $15,000 (T75) are still the state of the art, FLIR's commercial product line has been degrading since they bought out Armasight and added their junk to their products and put the FLIR brand on them. Trijicon bought out IR Defense and sells their thermal scopes under the Trijicon brand. Another decent brand is L3.
