Some of you are interested, so heres the latest.
I moved FIFI to Alliance from Midland the end of Oct and from there to Addison/Cavanaugh Museum on Nov 1st. From there Carl Reise took her to Lackland Airshow and from there to AOPA Convention in Long Beach via Fort Worth Meachum and Midland. She departed LGB on Sunday and is in the Phoenix area for a couple of days. Wednesday it is back home to ADS. There may be some local paid rides done in the Dallas area before closing things down for the winter. There have been some magneto problems with the new engines, but other than that the new hybrid engines are performing splendidly. Everything runs cool and we can maintain all the power we want for as long as we want. 30"/2000RPM across the board cruise is truing about 220 knots at 400GPH. Climb rate is close to 1500 FPM which can give an old man wood. Dynamic prop balancing has everything running very, very smooth. This is a far cry from the old original engines. |

Quoted: I don't know the exact time, but unless something changes it will be sometime Wednesday at Addison in the afternoon. Thanks for the heads up - maybe I'll be able to swing by for a look. One day I hope to take a ride on one of the old warbirds. Maybe when my son is old enough.

Oh that is sweeet!
Pics please!!!! Quoted:
FIFI is safe and sound at Alliance. The winds were a little too strong and cross for the narrow runway at Addison. We will move to Addison sometime in the next few days. Wish I still worked at AFW. Maybe you could winter Fifi in St Pete, FL? |

I hope this isn't much of a thread hijack, but what happened to that B-29 they were restoring to flyable condition in Wichita? I can't seem to find any recent info. It is my understanding that the entire project is up for sale. I don't think anything has been done on it for quite sometime. |

I remember standing in the bomb bay at Oshkosh in '98 (or so).
There were 2 Aussies with a camera chatting / interviewing a former B-29 crewmember inthe bomb bay. The old guy had on those boxy sunglasses you wear right after cataract surgery. This gentleman was in the backup plane for the Enola Gay. On August 6, 1945, he took off from Tinian and flew to Iwo Jima & back. According to him if there was problem with Enola Gay they were to land at Iwo and swap planes. He said Iwo had a pit they could lower the Bomb into for un-loading and loading in to the back up bird. Thank you for the history lesson Fifi ! |

That's KPAE! Now that FiFi flies again, when will she appear at KBFI and/or KPAE? Would you believe that there are a few warbird / Boeing fans around these parts? |
