Just got my FICO score prior to looking for a VA mortgage. Where does a score of 788 put me for a mortgage rate? Any help?

788 is excellent credit and will qualify you for the best rate. Any particular reason you are looking at a VA loan? They were supposed to be a blessing for our vets but in actuality the are one of the most expensive mortgages. Get a conventional mortgage and you will save money. Especially with that score.

I'll echo what was said above. When I was mortgage shopping back in Sept. The VA loan had a lower down payment requirement, but at the expense of a higher closing costs, and obviously a higher monthly mortgage payment.
