Over half of the firefighters are also State Certified Paramedics, and the other are State Certified Emergency Medical Technicians. The department began the ambulance service to our community in 1973, and upgraded it to Advanced Life Support Care (Paramedic) level in 1986. The department was the first nationally accredited EMS provider in the State of Indiana. The department operates out of two stations, with three fire engines, and two Advanced Life Support equipped ambulances.
