Trying to move it into place, came unglued from the mount and fell to the floor. It sounded like it shattered for 15 continuous seconds.

Any tips on the best way to clean up a metric shit ton of glass from tile / wood / carpet? Pieces ranging from the size of a sheet of printer paper to sand-grain sized.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK MY LIFE

Sorry dude.

Just be careful when doing it. Don't want any trips to the ER.

Btw, the 7 year bad luck thing.... it is just a myth. No worries.

trying to move it. 4 people holding on each corner, as we leaned it up against the wall, the glass panel came unglued from the backing, fell out of the iron frame, and hit the floor with the fury of zeus

put on shoes, and pick up as much as you can by hand then hit the rest up with a vacum

Gloves for the big pieces, shopvac for the small stuff, then use wet paper towels which will catch alot of the other fine particles from the wood and tiles. Had to deal with mirrors/glass/corel a few times and each time was a pain in the ass.

This is pretty much what were doing. Got most of the large pieces, shopvac is running right now, and then we will go over it with a wet towel, then a wet paper towel.

Its actually coming along faster than I thought. Im guessing there is glass spread out at least 25 feet in all directions though.

Actually very little got on the carpet, its mostly on the stone tile and in the cracks of the wood, hopefully the shopvac will fix that.

Once you get it all cleaned up, walk around barefoot.  I guarantee you'll find the rest.

This.  I dropped a large glass cup on the ground in the kitchen and that thing shattered into a thousand pieces.  I swept, used a wet paper towel and got down on the ground to look and I still was finding pieces the next day.

nope, luckily

it was one of those huge wall-leaning mirrors with a decorative iron frame around it. Used industrial grade glass-mount glue to hold the mirror to the wood backing, but the glue didnt hold. It dried plenty well, but I guess the mirror was too heavy. Who knows.

Damn that sucks... I've busted some big pieces of glass before, but nothing quite that large.  I don't envy the cleanup.  Glad to hear nobody got cut to shreds though.

I wouldn't count on none of it making it to the carpet... make sure you vacuum the carpet at least 2 or 3 times just in case.  Even then, I'd be really careful about being barefoot.

I was going to suggest that you IM Mudfish and see if he was through with his maid yet.

Pick up the bigger pieces, but wear gloves. Ask me how I know.

Sweep up what you can. Use a shopvac to get up the rest. Make sure you wear shoes for this ... heavy duty shoes and not flip flops or crocs ... and then TENDERLY run your bare hand over the carpet very lightly to see if you feel any more residue or glass. It took me about three full days of constant vacuuming to get what I thought was all of it out of the carpet and then a week later I was in the ER getting glass out of my foot because I thought I had gotten it all up. :(

I have no idea. I was only helping move it. It came from some high end furniture gallery so I guess not.

Its all cleaned up now, but Im guessing we will be finding pieces for the next few weeks.
