Ok, Me and MACD are arguing about RDIAS's. He says that a DIAS will not function on a AR lower with a AR-57 upper. I thought the DIAS unlike the lightning link did not engage the bolt and worked off the fire control group? Who's right. Poll inbound!

The DIAS works off the bolt carrier.

It works almost like the normal AR15 auto sear, except it has a little clamp that goes between the upper and lower between the take down pin area.

If the AR57 bolt has the proper cutouts to be used with an auto sear then it will work, but if its made like a civie Ar15 bolt then no.

I declare a mitsrial, the defendnant is intoxicated.

I"ve seen and shot DIAS guns but never owned one.  I swear the arm extending upward prevents the gun from firing out of battery much like a lightning link.

Anyone have a pic of the 57 BCG, or does it even matter?

Idunno about all that... but why does "me" argue?

Me think it would be best for all of we to figure out something about our eyes when arguing about RDIAS.

Its okay, we're talking about RDIAS'

"Registered Drop In Auto Sear"

Key word being registered. There are a bunch of them around once you fill out your NFA paperwork and send you money to the gov. They are very expencive though, over ten thousand dollars at least (been a while since I saw exactly, but 13-18,000 dollars or so. Again, been a long time since I poked my head into the idea.)

+1 on the price, I've seen RDIASs between 9-15k sold price but that's unusual from what I've seen.  Most actual owners I know paid between 5-8k.

It might also be that the NFA investors put their stuff on the market indefinitely to see if a fish bites.  It's not really for sale, but if someone will blow their trust fund...  This drives the apparent price up.

Can you get an RDIAS in Canada?

With a new bolt carrier, why wouldn't it work?

[#24]

Apparently from this photo, the AR-57 is on a M16 lower. So if the AR57 will work with a M16 lower, then it will also work with a DIAS. Basically, any upper that has the relief cut under the bolt carrier for the M16 auto-sear and has a full-auto config bolt carrier designed to trip the auto-sear, then it will also trip the DIAS.

Let me just say no criminal would use a Registured DIAS.   Too expensive.
