Hi Guys!

This is the girlfriend......I tried to open my own account but, it told me to wait 48 hours for an email. So, he told me I could post here since he had to go to work.  I am trying to find a good external hard drive for my pc and he told me to ask you guys.

I don't know anything about them but, I have used up all six GB (yes, thats right my pc only has 6) and it is running horribly slow.  I have been told to just get a 20 GB one but, I don't know.  All I seem to be able to find is 80 and up.

Any help you guys have for me would be greatly apperciated!!

Thanks in advance,

The Girlfriend

**Thanks for the GB correction

If I were you I would get a new internal and reload the operating system. If you have a 6 gig drive now you more than likely dont have USB2 or Firewire. You would have to invest in a add on card and the external drive. You can find 20 and 40 gig online. New Egg and Tiger Direct would have them

You do mean GB right?

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with going bigger, and if all you can find is an 80 go with that.  The basic rule on hard drives is buy the biggest you can afford, since chances are good, you WILL eventually fill it up.

I have a Laptop that is a few years old.  It has a 30 GB drive.  Filled it.
I bought a really small portable 20 GB drive.  Filled it.
I had an MP3 player.  Filled it.

I'm now filling my brothers computer with crap...

Buy the 80 if that's all you think you need.  But I suggest going with a bigger one.

Thank you for your responses!  Will I be able to just buy the hard drive or will I need something else to get it running?

Thanks!

If you buy the Maxtor it comes with everything including the software to do back-ups.

You can get a Maxtor 7200rpm 80 gig external that connects through USB at Office Depot.com for #79 or go to Ebay and get the exact same thing for $45.
