[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Excursion owners - speak up

I got a line on a 2001 Excustion XLT, around 100K miles for about $11K. How do you guys like these? I need a securable truck w/ plenty of room and this may be it. I know gas mileage will suck - are the diesels any better? I could keep an eye out for one of those instead.

12-18 mpg if your gear ratio is lower than 4:11 Diesel of course.

I drive a 2004 for work with the V-10 and get about 10mpg. Ride is good, turning radius good but brakes require heavy effort.

Thanks. I was originally leaning toward the diesel. I think I'll stick with that plan.
