Anyone know how to format cells in an Excel spread sheet to change text numbers to a time format? Example would be 800 to 08:00 or 8:00 and 1700 to 17:00.  I need to sort two different spread sheets to match certain entries.  If I could change one of the spread sheets from text numbers to the time, I could make the matches much quicker.

Databases are much more nifty than spreadsheets, especially if you need to link data.

I cannot help (off top of head, directly) with Excel, but I do know you can restructure a column as 'date' if they ALL match a format you can reformat.

Otherwise, switch to a small Database system, like *cough*Access*cough* if you love Micro$oft, otherwise Paradox.

Tried that. It just changes the numbers to "0:00".

Instead of time, go to custom.  in custom, you type what you want.  hh:mm  will give you 08:00
