raising kids
household repair(I was seriously considering reroofing my house myself)
some other stuff that I'm not sure is Coc compliant
cooking a damn good meal
being able to be self defensive  
doing it all in a skirt(now that's talent!)

Not NEARLY hard enough, that I'll tell you.

In some ways, I'd say specialization still has its place amongst we bi-peds. I still know women who don't drive. When my cousin's hubby died suddenly, she was fortunate to learn the metro in her city...and fortunate that she doesn't live/work where public T is unavailable. My mom did not learn to drive until 1972 (she was 38 years old!!!!)I also know a woman who when her husband died, had no idea where the money was (banks/account numbers....).

The reason that all seems so shocking right now is because 30 years ago, women were encouraged to get their own credit and bank accounts. I remember the commercials. So yeah...we women DO need to know how to take care of ourselves even if we're happily married.
I can still survive and raise my kids alone if my hubby passes on. I have skills other than my mad cooking/cleaning skills. And I think the reason we females HAVE those skills is because someone recognized some time ago that depending upon another for survival is NOT a wise thing to do.

OH! And every woman should be able to gracefully step out of a low vehicle in a short skirt and heels.

I do most of my own basic car maintanence.  I can run a lawnmower and most power tools.  I can parallel park, and I can back into parking spots, and I used to even do those things in a semi with a 53 foot trailer.  I get as much firearms and self defense training as I can and don't depend on someone else to "protect" me.  I'm a damn good cook and take good care of the house.  I look good in a skirt, but don't care to wear them.  And the part about being able to step out of a vehicle in a short skirt and heels, well...I can't claim to be graceful or coordinated.

A woman needs to in no particular order:

Know how to seek and follow directions
How to Organize her time, her home and her family
How to make and keep a budget
How to plan a healthy meal
How to cook
Know when to listen and when to speak
Be able to talk with authority and give directions
How to be self sufficient when need be and how to be dependent but dependable when need be too.
How to dress appropriately for the occasion
How to shoot from the hip [metaphorically speaking]
Under stand her own limitations and how to compensate for these
Appreciate and respect others for who they are, understanding their limitations and gifts
Understand that not everyone is as critical as she is
How to be forgiving
How to protect herself and her children

Lastly my Grandmother always said a lady needs to know how to make at least 7 different dishes of potatoes.

I have some work to do I rate about 7 of 16......... I might be able to swing the 7 potato dishes though, any extra credit?
