The Euros have been great so far.

I think the biggest story so far has been how the Netherlands have played so poorly.

Seeing Poland be eliminated in the group stage is surprising. I was really surprised that they came out for the second half today and played with absolutely zero urgency.

Spain and Germany look very strong. Happy to see Torres scoring. The Netherlands performance is very dissapointing.

So far, England winning and Rooney getting to play the next match. I don't care who he stomped on or kicked, I like to watch him play.

In my limited human foresight, I predict a Spain Germany final, with Spain the winner.

The Ukrainians were very excited to co-host this event - first time to do anything of this magnitude.  I got out of Kieve before Monday's game to avoid all the crazy fans.

I agree with the match up. I think that Spain miss David Villa and Carlos Puyol more than is obvious at this point.

Poland out already, Ukraine probably to follow next week - although it would be hilarious if they make all of England cry.

Ukraine is just happy to have European visitors coming to spend money on soccer instead of women.  They actually started putting signs up in English and had English language on the subway in anticipation of the games.  I opted going to the beach with a couple of 18 year olds instead of attending the games...

I was....afraid to post about soccer on Arfcom.

That said, this middle-aged Texan follows EPL and European soccer quite closely.

Russia being ousted after such a strong opening game is the surprise of the tournament so far.   As a Chelsea fan, I am hopeful that Torres has found his form again.

Man, it's like Russia no want to win.

Denmark beating Holland right off the bat made me go wow.

Holland being 0-2 is bad, but then again I was glad that the Germans beat them

So far I don't think anything overly 'magical' has occurred, but we still have the last round of group games coming as well as the quarters. Spain looks good as well, but I think everyone has slowly caught onto their boring possession short pass antics shit.

I enjoy watching the games... I just wish there was a way to put an end to the constant flopping.  Everyone who gets even lightly touched goes down like they were shot by a sniper and the rolls around on the ground in "pain."  It completely kills the flow of the game.

This is of great interest to me, I'll just sit back and read all of the postings.  My house comes to a stand still during soccer games.  The World Cup was insane, nothing got done around here.

I didn't have Greece going through simply based on their economy, I can't root for them.

I have Germany going all the way and Mario Gomez has had some pretty goals.

I'm just watching to keep tabs on Chelsea players, and potential transfers.

I caught the first half of the Greece and Russia match at Cuatros in Austin, and it was pretty neat being a neutral in-between the fans for a change.  Germany looks pretty strong Spain's passing the ball around for the sake of passing it is getting old.   Torres kept making runs, only to have the midfielders pass the ball back or sideways to each other.  If England can keep up the Catenaccio I think they could be the dark horse.

Are any of you Chelsea fans going to one of the preseason matches?  (I'm going to Miami for the CFC/A.C. Milan match)

Texas Chelsea fan here, also.

I think England will open it up a bit with the return of Rooney.

I started one some time ago but nobody wanted to play

Germany is the only Team thus far to have won the 1st 2 Games with 6 points they have the most of any Team.

I look forward to the Game today Germany vs Denmark.

I predict a good a.. w....... for the Danish Team (sorry DK) but they do not stand a chance.

I also predict that Portugal is going to be beaten by the Dutch.

yeah, it's like basketball and is one of the most annoying fucking things about both games.

That said...I was in downtown Amsterdam last Wed for the Holland-Germany game and was extremely disappointed that they lost in such a poor fashion. Was hoping for a better showing.

I am starting to develop an appreciation for the game.  It's certainly better than football, where it seems every time the ball moves you break for 5 minutes of beer commercials.

Thought this was interesting:

http://sportinglife.aol.co.uk/football/euro-2012/news/article/25581/7810799/russia-given-suspended-points-deduction

The Football Union of Russia seems to have adopted Putin's swagger and gotten slapped down for it.  Their 5K fans marching through the streets of Warsaw like it was September 1939 pissed off a lot of people.  Wonder if they'll pay their fines?

Nice bolt-ons.
