Carnival gun and knife attacks

   Four people were shot and one man hacked across the head
   with a machete in five separate incidents following the St
   Paul's Carnival in Bristol.

   One man was shot in the arm and leg with a nailgun;
   another, from London, was shot in the thigh with a
   ball-bearing gun.

   A second Londoner was also shot in the thigh. All three are
   "stable" in hospital while a woman is "serious" after being
   shot in the abdomen. Several arrests have been made
