I need a reaction/reflex tester ala the Family Fued button. Basically a visual indicator of who pressed a button first between two people.

Anyone know of something like that available for sale? Or alternatively what I would need to build it cheap and easy?

OK, somtimes having the correct terminology helps.

What I need is a "Fastest Finger First Indicator".

Any other suggestions?

It is called an arbitrator, these things are fairly easy to make with an FPGA and can determine who was first or whether there was a tie down into the 1-4 nanosecond range (far beyond human capabilites.). With access to custom CMOS silicon, you could get the precision down into the 40 picosecond range.

Thanks! Really, I spent "hours" Googling. Found some schematics but never that link.

Thanks again.

I could build you something that would light up a light for the first person that pushed a button and not light up the others. Then you could have another button to "reset" so that you could start over.

Don't know if I could explain it well enough for you to do it though.

ETA: Ha...guess I should read the whole thread and links first. This is exactly what I was thinking of when I posted the above. Not bad for $15 if you can solder

drag racers use a "practice tree" to work on their reaction times at the starting line. i know jegs and summitracing sells them.
