OK EE's I need a simple circuit. 2 LED's (Say Green For instance), AA or 9 volt power source and simple switch.  What I want to is to put the LED's in a deer skull so the "eye's" glow. I know I need a resistor but I'm not sure if I calculated it right. Using a 9 volt the resitor should be 240 ohms, right?

I get 330 for parallel or 440 for series for the Green LEDs from Radio Shack (276-022)

Depends on the LED's.  Some have resistors built in.

Word.

You really need to provide the specs for your LED to get the best answer.  Assuming 20 mA and a forward voltage of 2 V you'll want a 350 ohm resistor if wired in parallel.  330 ohm is close enough and is very common.  If in series you'll want a 250 ohm resistor or something close.  You can use just about any switch you want for this circuit.

I would go to michaels and buy an LED light kit for 5 bucks

Thanks for the help. I didn't know Michaels had LED light kits. I'll check that out.

If you want a really freaky effect, use cats eyes marbles, and put a red, yellow, green led,( or red yellow red)
in series in a row behind each marble, hook both in parralel, it changes color depending on where you see it from.
use 100 ohm and 9v

I did this with a gargoyle many years ago.

Yea but a "real" electronics store would have LEDs for 25 cents and 1/4-watt resistors for 10 cents. (and Radio Shack isn't a real electronics store anymore)

Also, you don't need a switch, just snapping the 9V battery on is the switch.

There are a variety of LED light packages

the little watch cell powered tealight led flickers are cool & cheap

there are also kits to light up those Xmas village houses

I have some cool solar powered LED string lights that charge all day & run all night

Put 'em in series. They'll waste less battery power that way, and both will draw the same amount of current.
