Ok, let's say you have a laptop with USB ports but no serial ports. You need a serial port. Who makes the best adapter? Is there one that doesn't require any drivers; i.e. just plug in and go?

I have a Keyspan serial port replicator.  Mine is model USA-19QW.  I know that they stopped making that model, but they have a newer model that does the same thing.  I use it with my GPS and my laptop computer, and it works great.  I've never had a problem with it.  It came with a disk that had the necessary drivers, and the drivers are also on their website.  I bought it over a year ago, but as I recall it was somewhere around $40-$50.

Good luck!
