| Got an EOTech 553 that has about 500rnds. on it and noticed that the reticule washes out in bright daylight. Anyone know of any issues with this happening with the 553's ??. Stopped in the LGS and looked at one of the newer EOTech models and took it outside and it still was bright enough to clearly see. Mine looks plenty bright inside but once it gets into daylight the reticule all but disappears. |

Is it real? FPNI. Genuine Eotech should not be doing that. It's real as far as I can tell, bought it NIB at a LGS a few years back and don't use it much. Tried using both Duracell and surefire CR123 batteries in it and no change. Still have the box and manual it came with. |

Is it NV compatible? Is it possible you hit the NV button by accident if so, because some of the models I've used turn back on at the previous setting. Is this a new development, or has it always been dim? |

Nitrogen purge is leaking. i had this happen to 2 553's. send it to Eotech, they will fix it free of charge. should take a week or 2 at most. |

That's what keeps screwing with me....when it's indoors it's bright as hell at the max. setting but as soon as you go outside it all but vanishes. You can pick it back up if you look at something with a dark background. Look at a dirt field and it's gone. |

So that's what might be going on then......I know I didn't hit the NV button and like I said it's VERY bright indoors. Guess the nitrogen affects the way the light is either projected or the way natural light passes thru it....Thanks. |

| Just a heads up for anybody else that has this happen......EOTech says $79.00 to fix it since it's out of it's warranty period. Think next time I'll get an Aimpoint since this sight has never been abused and sat in the safe for most of the time since I've owned it so there should be no reason for it to fail. Oh well.... |

Aimpoints CS is no better IMO. |
