Purely hypothetical at this point... Suppose you have something listed on EE. Someone posts and calls dibs and asks some questions. You answer their questions and are waiting to hear back. In the mean time someone else says "I'll take it". Should you wait until the first person gets back to you before letting the "I'll take it" have it, or go with the bird in the hand? I know what my inclination would be, but what is the site etiquette? |
Yeah, I kinda believe in the "It's my shit and I can sell it to whoever the fuck I want to for whatever reason" principle. However, dicking people over is not a good way to earn a solid reputation if you ever want to sell something again. |
Have you read some of the ads? ![]() Sometimes the description sucks and I want to know what I'm getting into first. I do however communicate the knowledge that someone wants it more than I do, fine. If the seller gets cranky - oh well. No great loss for me. ![]() |
I understand completely. Say "I'd like to see some pictures" Figure out if it's what you want and then decide if you'll take it. "I'll take it..." shouldn't even be in your vocabulary if you're still asking for pictures and asking questions to decide if you want it. |

Gotcha. I think I'm misinterpreting your post (and we both agree) I won't say "I'll take it - but...etc." however, I will ask for more info if I need it. Only once has the deal appeared good enough that I "took it" with a (honored but not needed) request for a 3 day inspection period. Part was good, I kept it. |
| If someone asks questions or wants to see more pictures, I will usually give them "dibs". If I get any "I'll take it's" after a serious inquiry from someone else I will decline them saying something like, "Sorry, sale is pending, I'll let you know if it falls through." That's just me though. |
