We were using the gold dots, then the last batch that came in is now the 62gr Federal SP.

Fed agencies buy who ever has the current contract which can be for one or multiple years...

Gold dot 64gr iirc

64gr Gold Dot for us. Our agency just had a shooting on 5/7/18 (suspect armed with Shotgun). Suspect DRT, no Officers or Civilians hurt. Terminal ballistics from 10.5" SBRs was nothing short of impressive.

You have to buy your own ammo to carry on duty? Is there at least a dept policy/standard for what you can carry?

Carried and used Speer GD 64s in a HP rifle match and it held the 10 ring at 300 yards. Out of an M4 type patrol rifle should be a good round at shorter ranges as I don't see the everyday officer taking 300 yard shots.

We are transitioning all our 55gr to 64gr. Special Purpose Rifles are still 75gr, all Speer Gold Dot bonded.

62gr TAP barrier. We used to have regular 55gr TAP. After testing, it sucked so we switched.

Going from Federal 55gr P223E matchking (works on people REAL well, don't bother asking how I know and going to Gold Dot 64gr bonded. Me no likee. Prints lower than 55gr and I don't think the barrier performance is worth the loss in ballistics.

Policy just states nothing heavier than 62grn. I usually run m193 or Winchester silver tips.
