What kind of fucked up, weird shit is that, right? Retards can't pick a load and stick with it, right? I've been thinking lately about doing it, though. We all know we're supposed to chose a load that reaches a minimum of 12" of penetration for defense. We also know that the reason for that is so that it will still poke holes in vital organs even in a worst case scenario of a big guy who may be at an angle or have intervening objects between you and his innards, where the bullet has to penetrate through an arm or some such before entering the torso. In an "ideal" shot on an average guy, you only need about 4", give or take to get to the heart. But we plan for worst case scenario. Okay, but handguns are handguns and I'll probably have to shoot the fucker several times anyway, right? Why not alternate between a quality JHP that penetrates the requisite 12"-14" and a lighter, faster JHP that blows up like an M67 frag grenade but only penetrates 8"-9"? When those guys hit, they'll make big, huge holes that are usually deep enough to reach vital organs and in any case cause A LOT of blood loss. And you'll also be able to reach deep enough just in case your bullet does have to take the long way home.
My anus is prepared. I know I'm a tard. Dutch loading still a bad idea? ETA: For the mouth breathers: Dutch loading is alternating between two different loads. In this case I wonder whether it might be useful to alternate between moderate expansion/proper penetration and fragnasty/less penetration loads. |

a Dutch Loading??
Are you suggesting that a magazine be loaded with different types of projectiles? Soft points + FMJ + hollow points etc?? a mixed bag in the mag? To accomplish different types of wounds? If this is the idea, it's just too much work for me. I am to lethally lazy to do this sort of stuff. I'll just stick to one type at a time. GD |

| The big problem with this notion in my mind is that good hits on the torso are not that easy in a dynamic encounter. It would be less than optimal if the only shot you got with the angle to damage the major organs in the thoracic cavity was an underpenetrating round that only made a nasty wound in an attacker's forearm, leaving him still in the fight. |
