Dumb q. Rail to finish up my LaRue giveaway barrel will be in tomorrow. Only missing part is gas block / tube. Will the stick function? I know it would be single fire, but I wanna go shoot it, test it out and my new 1x8 scope. Or is it bad for the barrel?

Yea it will function. But you will only see if it fires...  no ejection, you won't see if it's over or under gassed. Kind of a waste really. Just wait

Order gas block and wait another day or 2? Be much more fun that way.

Realistically, what would you do about it anyway?

Beyond that, I'm sure larue drilled the gas port correctly.

Probably, but that's just one piece of the puzzle.

Shoot it if you want.

What is the pressure of the gas leaving the uncovered gas port?

Shitting in your rail or tweaking bending it? Explosion??

The hot gas blowing out of the gas port with no gas block.

The lack of back pressure at the gas port might induce more erosion than normal too.  I doubt it'd be a big deal for a couple of shots, but then what's the point? Hold your water, OP.
