I wanted to run dual monitors on my desktop so I bought a Radeon HD5450 at Best Buy. It says on the box it supports dual monitors. There are 3 ports on the card. (1) VGA, (1) DVI and (1) HDMI  So I figured that the second monitor would be running off the original video card. Got everything together on only the monitor connected to the Radeon HD545 works. I went to the display setting to see if the computer saw the monitor. It doesn't. So I'm thinking that I have to use the VGA and  DVI ports on the Radeon HD545 to get both monitors to work. Or am I wrong.

Right, run one off of the DVI  (the card probably included a DVI to VGA adapter) and one off of the VGA.

You are right.  Both monitors will be running off the one card.  One VGA the other DVI.  I have a similar setup.

Once you hookup both monitors in this manner the software that comes with the card will walk you through all the display settings for 2 monitors.

Like they said above me, both off one card. Mine runs the primary off HDMI and the second monitor takes the DVI.

Thanks. Card didn't come with proper adapter so I'll have to get one at staples.
