And they had one of their new "Ridgeline " pickups on the lot. Hideous doesn't even begin to describe it.
I thought that the Avalanche/Escalade EXT looked like trash when they came out... but this piece of junk... Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over. Tell me I'm not the only one that thinks this way. |
Hmm I'll bet that body work on a one-peice body could get kinda pricey!
I wish GM would bring the El Camino back. Yuppiefied little sports car/truck might sell now.
What would be really sweet is if GM would bring the Holden Ute to the States. It is basically a GTO pickup.

that thing is rather lame looking... have to see it in person to be sure..
Finally a truck for lemming-like Honda fans. Too bad the market research was off. Way off.
I thought the Saturn SUV was an abomination but when Honda started making their own SUV instead of rebadging an Isuzu, it was sure to happen. But a Honda full-sized truck? Ok, the Porsche Cayenne...makes Mr. Garrison's sex change seem mild. |
The CR's in the bed look nice. You can keep the thing with four wheels.
Looks like a blantant copy of the Chevy Avalanche.
Both look like crap. |
unibody construction. I just dont see it putting a dent in Toyota sales.
My dad almost bought a Saturn VUE. Overpriced crapbox. |
Fixed it for you. |
That too. Saturn dealers are a bunch of jerks when it comes to pricing. Their "no haggle strategy" is
They won't deal with you, the morons. |
Whats worse about the VUE is my mom was actually the one that was gonna get it and she wanted it in this ugly puke-orange color.
Got a nice Chevy Blazer instead. |
GNS, do you work for Toyota? |
Actually the SSR isn't that bad...I just wouldn't pay 49 grand for it! |
I used to. They make the best cars for the money known to man. |
Do you work in the car selling business? |
Yeah...my sister has an '03 Pontiac Vibe(Toyota Matrix) and it is pretty nice. |
Unibody AND frame on body. |
Sure do. Why you asking? |
For years I've been telling people that when Honda made a truck, they would dominate the market.
I was wrong. |
I thought the same thing. Whoops. |
Shoot the designer.
Note to Japan: COPYING THE HEDIOUS AVALANCHE IS NOT THE THING TO DO |
The weird design of the bed has a function. It is a unibody truck, and the high sides were needed to strengthen the body in that area. It will be interesting to see how this honda is recieved by the truck market.
That`s a sharp little truck. |
Yep - although I do like the Nissan Maxima. |
I remember when people laughed a Toyota/Honda/Datsun making anything but econoboxes...
and then they laughed when Toyota made compact pickups... and then they laughed when Toyota made full size pickups... so I'll hold off on the laughter for a few more years.... |
Give them a few years, and I guarantee you they will. Just like in PWC, ATV, Motorcycle, Bicycle, and many other industries. When Honda enters, they do it to capture the largest market share possible. Wait and see. |
Yes. That was my first thought when I saw it. It looks like a scaled-down Avalance. |
I guess they never thought you might want a topper on the ugly thing.
Bob |
Just curious. Don't mean to turn it into 20 questions, but which manufacturer do you sell cars for? |
Don't hold off laughing. At least Toyota makes functional trucks that people actually buy that don't look like a lump of crap. |
I'm a ricegrinder driver, and have owned many a Honda, and will own another one.
Some of the very best cars made, period. Thatsaid, That thing looks like an ISUZU Rodeo and a Chevy Avalanche had a bastard child. A really FUGGGGGGG-LLEEE bastard child. SG |
I love mine. 2003 SE The Nissan V-6 utilized in the Maxima is the best V6 made, period. And the fuckers will flat out fly, too. SG |

It's really no worse than any other small 4 door pickup that anybody else markets. In fact, it's probably way better as it's a unibody, an nobody really uses the carrying capacity/off road ability of frame/solid axle competitors anyhoo.
Well, in a way, the SSR is kind of like El C. Except they pimped it up with that folding top and priced it at 49 G's. |
That's nothing new. In the 60's various station wagons did that. You can order a GMC Envoy XUV with that a tailgate that did that. |
