I was offered a gun today for about $650. I havent seen it yet but the guy who offered it to me says that he carried it on duty when he was a cop. He claims it is a dubble stack? Is that right, he also said somthing about preban. Nothing to do with the clinton crap though. Did they accualy make one of those? Could it just be a .38? Also the offer he made was the gun, 2 15rd mags, holster, surefire light, and hard case for 650, what do ya think? I know this was pretty jumbled but Im in a hurry.

Some real details are required.

But there are double stack .45's.

Several companies make a double stack 10+ rounds of .45 goodness.

A Glock 21 is a 13-round double stack .45 that is a popular police sidearm.  If that is his price it is way too much.

It could be some sort of custom double stack 1911 with extended mags - in that case it might be worth it.

Need details.

I have a ParaOrd Tac Four, which is a 1911-style with double stack .45 mag.  The grip really isn't that big, but it is kinda square.

Actually the Para staggered column offerings fit my hands just slightly better than a single stack do.

Since about 1988.

Para's, STI's, Bul's, etc. are all double stack .45's & are fairly comfortable unless you have really small hands.

These guns have been out for a long time. Where have you guys been???

I personaly like the double stack .45 Para's.  Ive been used to shooting HK pistols and next came the XD, none of which have small grips. Ended up buying a Para Ordnance Warthog and to say the least its awsome. Smaller and lighter then my XD9 sub compact, holds the same number of rounds (10), and is a .45 to boot. Cant ask for much more. I did initialy have FTF issues which where fished out to reveal weak mag springs for such a small pistol, but once replaced with Wolff mag springs it runs like a top.  IMO the Warthog is hard to beat in size and over all firepower in a CCW..

If it was a duty gun I'm going to go ahead and say with 98% certainty it is a Glock 21.  It has 13 round mags though.

I don't find it likely a dept. would approve a Para for duty carry.

If it is a Glock 21, you need to find out what generation it is and what type of Surefire light he is including.  If it is a second gen with a cheaper model surefire, it is definitely not worth $650.

Thanks this must be what he was talking about. I knew para ordance made a doulbe stace and that the first thing I thought of. I had just assumed that the para doulbe stack was new.

The thing that is new about para double stack .45s is the action (Light Double Action vs. standard 1911 single action)...my brother has a Para .45 (single action) in black...it rocks.  I love that gun 14+1 of .45cal goodness.

alot of departments approve 1911's, once the police realized that people can shoot 1911's better than anything else and they are just as safe (if not more) they started allowing them.

those things are nice, although the AWB sunset kinda made the whole concept pointless.

Wilson 10rd mags work to well to go to the KZ.

If someone is selling a Wislon, any Wilson, (plus a case, xtra mags and a surefire) for $650 – it’s most likely –how do you say? – muy caluroso .

I've got a KZ45 and absolutely love the thing.  Guaranteed 1" @ 25 yards-shoots better than I can and eats up anything you put in it.  Anyway, at the grip's widest point it is actually thinner than a standard single-stack 1911 grip.  The KZ is it's own animal.  It does not share any similarities in design with other DS 10 rounders (Kimbers, STI's etc.)  Different mags altogether.

I had a Kimber polymer 10 rounder and sold it for the KZ.  No comparison.  You get what you pay for.

Good stuff.  And no, it wouldn't be going for $650.

Kimber isn’t exactly a ghetto special though. I have pretty long fingers so I really like the wider body. Old frame made in Israel.
