Sounds like she popped her knee cap.

Per a Dog Medicine book - buffered or enteric coated aspirin. 5mg per pound, orally, every 12 hours

Tylenol, 7mg per pound, or 1/2 of a 325 mg tablet per 25 lbs, orally, every 8 hours

(don't double up meds with acitomeniphen (tylenol) can cause liver damage)

Aspirin is tough on a dog's stomach so be sure to use a coated tablet.

I hope she makes a speedy recovery. It really bothers me to see an animal in pain. I don't feel the same about people.

For our greyhounds with broken legs, we give them a regular strength Ascripton, which is a Malox coated asprin.

I would bet that the leg will feel worse in the morning, and I would suggest seeing a Vet. They will probably want an Xray.

I hope she feels better soon.

WHere can you get a Dog Medical Book??
I would like one before i purchase my Pooch.

BTW I am saving up some cash for a German Short Hair.

Does anyone know about Breed Problems?

PS I give my Rottie 200mg after our walks. She is ten, and has Hip Problems for a while now

+1 on the baby aspirin. I've seen it work miracles on older dogs.

Found this on a vet website several years ago:

Note that the recommended dosage for little dogs is even smaller than a baby aspirin, so you may need to split one before administering it.

BTW, a piece of cheddar cheese makes a great way of administering it - Use a plastic drinking straw to cut a plug out of the cheese, and then stuff the aspirin inside the hole - The dog'll never taste anything but pure dairy goodness!

On my vets advice, I give my dogs Ibuprofen in small doses, I have Labs with arthritus, and it helps, when they start limping in the cold weather.
