Taking some classes at University of Alaska Anchorage. Since today is a holiday, I almost did not go in . I thought for sure the place would be shut down due to Presidents Day. It was shut down for MLK Jr. Day. Anyway, after looking at my class schedule, it showed class in session today so I went. Good thing, we did have class. Now, explain to me if schools are closed on fed holidays, why would they close for one and not the other? Is this normal?

Dunno!  Is your professor a raging communist?

Well, the whole school had classes with the exception of classes on Ft Rich and Elmendorf AB.

I don't get it either, I had classes today as well.  Is it a private school, by chance?  Mine is.

Same.  Most schools swapped President's day for MLK a long time ago.  Feds are about the only ones that take President's Day anymore.  We have a federal lab in our building and they're all gone.  Rest of the university is business as usual.

I'd take the whole month off for black history if I were you.  When they fail you, just claim racism.  I don't care if you're white.
