I use this pack for everything from my BOB, to a carry-on when I fly, to a day pack, to a range bag. Can't be beat. I have one in OD, as illustrated. They can be had in several colors.

Another fan of the Eagle AIII. Mine is five years old and has lived through multiple deployments, trips to the field, general everyday use, and it shows almost no wear still.

Yes, but it is marketed as a "regular" back pack.
If you put "tactical" "swat" "navy seal" "ranger" or "commando" in any of the product's name, expect to pay at least 10-15% more.

Cheaper than dirt has the same pack that those guys are selling on ebay. Personally I wouldn't buy it. My experience with these kind of packs is that one of the straps will rip from it about the third time you put it on.

You might consider the spec ops brand "the pack". It's $ 130 on the 2nd site listed, but I've seen it as low as $ 110 at midwesttactical, but their site doesn't seem to be functioning not certain if they're in business or not anymore or if their sites simply isn't functioning.

I believe it's an imported copy of the Maxpedition Falcon. Sportsman's Guide sells it too. See their website.

Here's a link to the Maxpedition.

If you don't mind not having MOLLE strips, You'd probably like the Chinook Life Force. It's a copy of the British PLCE pack, and a damn nice one at that.

I'll second "The Pack" - Got one in ACU that Im gonna use for Afghanistan. Only modifications Im making is gonna add a Blackhawk Internal Frame and freefloat the shoulder straps (The straight straps cut into your shoulders with about 40 pounds of a stuff in it, until they break in.) Fairly well built.

Love to have a RAID pack, but try to get one! I've seen them going for over $200 used on Ebay.

You could always get an ALICE if you wanted a framed pack.

Quality and $75 do not go together

I'll "third" that one. They sell for $100 here at the AAFES exchanges, and its a very well made pack. The shoulder straps are precurved instead of straight and I've had noproblem with them, the waist belt is removable, which is cool since I mostly drag it to work and back and don't need it. There are an unlimited number of ways to customize it with the webbing, thats always a plus. I'd say its every bit as well made as the Tactical Tailor and Blackhawk packs I have been issued. I don't abuse mine much, but I have 100% confidence in its ability to take any I dish out.

Is TAG no longer making them? I though they were supposed to be able to keep up with demand better than Eagle?

Eagle Dealer price is 60% of MSRP. Lots of dealers are selling for a very snall mark up over dealer cost. I think i paid $70.00 for my A-III Mollle, the regular A-III is less.

If you really want to save some bucks - and it doesn't have to be a HSLD tactical pack - try this pack from Cabelas.

It's allegedly German, Mil spec, and seems decent. I bought one last time I was at Cabela's just to have, not for a tactical pack. It's small-ish but would make a decent Bug-Home pack.

(also last time I was at a surplus store they had a decent looking - likely Chinese - pack from a company called "Bug Out Gear" (or ...Packs, I can't remember). It was under $100, looked like it had a lot of attachment points, but wasn't that different in size than the German $16 one above.
