I hear these things are real tack drivers. Somethink like they can hit a flea at 100yrds or something crazy like that. I haven't been able to find many different makers of this rifle or ammo. It is a real interesting rifle though. What should I get,  a 10/22 or a .177 rimfire. Advantages/disadvantages, stories, advice all appreciated. I know it has a flatter trajectory than a .22 lr and is more accurate, but is there anything else I should take into consideration. How much is the ammo compared to .22 lr?

Ruger 10/22 with Hammer Forged Target Barrel, that little baby is a tact driver.
It will drive what ever you can zero in on.

I have the Marlin bolt-action in SS but I have not shot it enough to give a good opinion. I will rectify that problem soon!

How about auto loaders? Whenever I do a search for .177 rimfire, I get a bunch of air rifles. Anyone have good experience with auto loaders?

I really want to get one myself. Don't Google on
.177 rimfire. Try .17 WMR. Check out the Rimfire Central Forums.

I purchased a Remington 597 in 17HMR. Real tack driver out to 70yrds(my longest shot). But I have to do my part.
Fun to shoot.
Kind of expensive thought.
Gun = $300
Ammo = 50rds @ $10
2 to 5sec for 8rd mag dump(accuratly) = $$$$
Fun to shoot.
Flat shooting. Never more than 1 1/2in above or below line of sight out to 150 yrds.
Devastating on small game.
Did I menton Fun to shoot?

I recieved a Ruger 77/17 as a gift.  I have been very pleasently surprised by its performance.  It is perhaps the perfect crow gun out to about 200 yards.  My rifle shoots 0.75" 5 shot groups at 100 yards when the wind is calm, and in the hands of a capable marksman.
It doesn't seem to "hit as hard" as a .22 WMR, but it shoots alot flatter and doesn't tear up squirrels at 20 yards, yet clean, responsible kills can be made out to beyond 120 yards.  I don't think my 77/17 will replace the 22lr (no way!) or even the 22 WMR, but it has earned a spot in the front of my gunsafe.

Kindstranger, why wouldn't you  trade your .22lr for your .177 wmr? What is the advantage that the  .22 has over the .177?
