I'm thinking of getting one on sale for $230.  I have two cats.

Believe the hype?  I am used to $80 walmart vacuums.

We have the yellow one. I've never used it but the GF is always talking about how well it works.

We have the DC-17 animal, it really sucks. We had a newer Hoover canister/hepa vac, we did the den floor and then broke out the Dyson on the floor when we first got it. The stuff it pulled up/picked up was amazing. Made me feel dirty. IMHO, it was a good purchase.

I have the purple ball Dyson.  I have a yellow lab and when I brought home the dyson I vacuumed the living room with my old vacuum.
Then I used the new Dyson, I couldn't believe how much is picked up over my old one.  They are expensive but they are worth it IMO.

Tossed our Kirby away and bought one.

It has been a few years but no problems

I have one as well, I don't have the link any longer but got it online somewhere for a lot cheaper than Bed Bath and Beyond. I was a non believer as well until I used one.

OK, I ordered it.  $250 with tax, cheapest price I was able to find.

Thanks!

my wife sells them and says it is a good deal. Not quite as nice as the new ball ones. She said the dc7 was not as maneuverable.

For pet hair issues, you can't beat a Dyson.  I've killed numerous $250 vacuums with pet hair from my dogs (and previously owned cats).  Once I got my Dyson about 4 years ago, I've never had a problem since.  I paid $500 for mine at the time and I still don't regret it after all this time.  So one for $230 is a bargain.

Yup, I did the same test with my prior vacuum to my Dyson... it had a little light that would come on proclaiming the carpet was "clean".... so I did an entire room until the little green led was on continually.  Then I broke out my new Dyson.  After going over 1/3 of the room, the Dyson canister was full of hair and crap and had to be emptied.  2 more full canisters later, I believed the carpet was finally as clean as it was going to get

I have the purple one, definitely does its job with animal hair. (i have a boxer and wheaton terrier).

However there are known issues with the power switch failing to stay "on."

Mine has gone in for warranty service but their customer service is great.

Of course I vaccuum the hell out of my house, at least once sometimes twice if we add my toddler in the mix.

Money well spent.
