WTF are they going political too? Have you heard their new CD?

No talent then.
Just seperating the men from the boys.

Anyone who a name already out their could make a political themed album nowadays.

I view it as an easy way to make money and release an album, cop-out if you will.

Not yet, but I've been waiting for it.  Their first one is still the best, I think.  Believe wasn't bad, but...

Why would it surprize you? It's FAR easier to name what celebs haven't been following the pack than it is to name who has. What's really funny is that these people think they are somehow rebels because of their stand on issues. They're just more lemmings as far as I'm concerned.

I have heard a few of their new songs but must say I don't always listen to the words so much. I've been to one of their concerts a couple years back. David (the lead singer) took about 10 minutes to go into a little speach mid way through the concert. Most of what he said was "we don't worship the devil and support our troops." Oh and when he says throw up your devil horns.... it is not the sign of the devil, it's the sign for heavy f*ing metal!

I never thought they were left leaning but this new album kind of makes me wonder?

Some of the best bands write political music. As an example U2, they were a great band with music that made you think. Thats changed now that they sold out and tried to do the POP thing IMO.

I havent heard the latest from disturbed, but ive heard good things about the latest alblum.

Think about the 60's music. It was 80% political...granted that was a little before my time but some good stuff none the less.

There alot of political things to write about these days....and some might even listen to the lyrics in between sips from there double latte skinny from starbucks...on there IPOD

i don't know about the political aspect...but i do know that on Disturbed's upcoming tour the opening band is going to be Corrosion of Conformity; which in IMHO is one the most underated bands ever.

Looked at the lyrics for the new songs and this is the only one I see that is remotly political but I still just dont see it in this song either. More of a lament for better times I think.

Land Of Confusion Lyrics

I must have dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
But I can hear the marching feet
They're moving into the street

Now, did you read the news today?
They say the danger has gone away
But I can see the fire's still alight
They're burning into the night

There's too many men, too many people
Making too many problems
And there's not much love to go around
Can't you see this is the land of confusion?

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in

Oh, superman, where are you now?
When everything's gone wrong somehow?
The men of steel, I hate these men of power
I'm losing control by the hour

This is the time, this is the place
So we look for the future
But there's not much love to go around
Tell me why this is the land of confusion

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in

I remember long ago
When the sun was shining
And all the stars were bright all through the night
In the wake up this madness, as I held you tight
So long ago

I won't be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We're not just making promises
That we know we'll never keep

There's too many men, too many people
Making too many problems
And there's not much love to go round
Can't you see this is the land of confusion?

Now, this is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for

This is the world we live in
And these are the names we're given
Stand up and let's start showing
Just where our lives are going to

Eh at the beggining of "deify" George Bush is speaking.
It's not bad - just that one 5 second clip, and it is easy to filter out.
Unlike Greenday who decided that instead of learning more chords, they would just bash Bush.
For a lot of bands, a political message is just a cover for sucking.

"Deify"

All my devotion betrayed
I am no longer afraid
I was too blinded to see
How much you've stolen from me

You want to know why I feel so horrified?
I let my innocence die
You want to know why I can't be pacified?
You made me bury something
I won't be sleeping tonight

I only wanted a blessing made
Now I've been labeled a renegade
It seems so clear now what I must do
You're no immortal
I won't let them
Deify you
They view you as the new messiah
Deify you
Renew belief in some demented myth (or man)

You want to know why it seems the passion has died?
We've all been living this lie
You want to know why my will has been fortified?
You've made me hunger again
Good luck sleeping tonight

I only wanted a blessing made
Now I've been labeled a renegade
It seems so clear now what I must do
You're no immortal
I won't let them
Deify you
They view you as the new messiah
Deify you
Renew belief in some demented myth (or man)

All my devotion betrayed

All my devotion betrayed

I don't think that the song is really a bash against Bush..

This is the one that got me thinking, not the others.

Sacred Life

My conviction is stronger today
As i fight to uncover your sacred life
And the fear isn't going away
As the soldiers still die
Let the followers know their lives have been sold
For the good of your sacred life
For the truth to be told
And the pain to unfold
We must start asking why

Don't you know the war is far from over now
What a stumbling block we've fallen over now
As our brothers die defending no one
The war is far from over now

Liberation, a moral charade
For the cause is a part of your sacred life
Damnation a moment away in all the world's eyes
It's the doom of us all
We give in to control for the sake of your sacred life
Complications abound
You'll get used to the sound of alarms in your life

Don't you know the war is far from over now
What a stumbling block we've fallen over now
As our brothers die defending no one
The war is far from over now

Give us a moment of peace in our lifetime [x7]
Give us a moment of peace right now

Don't you know the war is far from over now
What a stumbling block we've fallen over now
As our brothers die defending no one
The war is far from over now

You are bitching about them taking a stand on the war and the president?????   If all of us were in a band we would probably sing about the right to have firearms.  These are the people you want standing up for you and spreading the word of the people.  They say what the elected people won't.  Disturbed is an awsome band who I have seen in live concert 3 times and will be going back in December to see again.  What do you want them to sing about 40's, bitches, million doller homes, what??????   i think that it is great the they stand for what they belive in and don't back down to anyone.  Rock on!!!!!!

Don't know about the new one, but this song fucking rocks!
(Kinda creepy, too)

"Voices" by Disturbed

So, are you breathing
No, no
Are you breathing
So, are you breathing
No

[x2]
Wake up, are you alive
Will you listen to me
I'm gonna talk about some freaky shit now
Someone is gonna die
When you listen to me
Let the living die, Let the living die
(say)

[Chorus:]
Are you breathing, no?
Do the wicked see you?
You still breathing?
You're making me known
Are you breathing, no?
Do the wicked see you?
You still breathing?

[x2]
What's up, I wonder why
Do you listen to me
I'm gonna make you do some freaky shit now
Insane, you're gonna die
When you listen to me
Let the living die, Let the living die
(say)

[Chorus]

I can hear the voice
But I don't want to listen
Strap me down and tell me
I'll be alright

I can feel the subliminal need
To be one with the voice
And make everything alright

So, are you breathing?

Can't you imagine how good going through this will make you feel
I promise, no one will ever know
There will be no chance of you getting caught
They never loved you anyway
So come on, be a man
And do what you are compelled to do

Save Me God! God! [x10]

I can hear the voice But I don't want to listen
Strap me down and tell me I'll be alright
I can feel the subliminal need To be one with the voice
And make everything alright
I can hear the voice But I don't want to listen
Strap me down and tell me I'll be alright
I can feel the subliminal need To be one with the voice
And make everything alright

[Chorus]

So, are you breathing? So, do you breathe no, no?
So, are you breathing? So, do you breathe no?
