Hey Guys,
I'm going to venture into the world of digital SLRs and am looking at buying a Canon 10D from a guy local.  He wants $500 for the body, no lense.  It has about 7000 shots on it.

Does this sound like a good deal, or should I be looking somewhere else?

My main going in going to this format is to be able to take really good close up photos, so I'll need to get a macro lense for it.  I'd like to be able to take photos of the intricate workings of watches and such.  Thanks!

thats alot of use. You might check ebay completed items to find a market value for it.

Not really, 7000 shots is nothing for a professional cam..

I'd say it's a decent price, if it is in good condition. # of shots alone doesn't mean anything if it wasn't taken care of right.

If I were you I'd spend a little more money and get the 20D.
They just annouced the 30D is coming out soon.
But the 20D new can be found for around $850.

I have some reviews in the photoshop forum.
