So I go into Dick's Sporting Goods, to pick up some ammo - 9mm advertised in the flyer.
It is $13.99 regular, $9.98 on sale. $7.98 if you buy 10 boxes. I show up - see two cases on the shelf.... ask him if he has more in the back. He tells me the store manager instituted a store policy - no more than 3 BOXES of ammo per person.... per day. They need to make sure everyone gets a chance to get in on the sale, instead of one person wiping them out. When I point to the flyer which clearly states $7.98 when you buy 10 boxes.... he responds they are giving the case price to everyone, for individual boxes. Isn't that fucked? They are losing money on the guys who just want one or two boxes... by instituting this bullshit policy. Now - I totally agree - its their right to do what they want.... but that was some bullshit right there. Advertising a bulk purchase sale, then limiting it once you get to the store, with some store managers whim.

Fuck Dicks. (ok, have fun with that last one.) Well I was at Big 5 sporting goods here in town. I was just wasting time looking around. They had a sale on WWB .45acp and this older guy walks up and buys it all. Every last box.When I was standing at the register the total was around $ 2100. First day of the sale an hr into the day. I guess store managers are getting pissed at all the upset people coming in to buy ammo and its all gone on the first day. Would you be more upset, if you saw a few cases on the shelf and they said it was already sold. Or you drive all the way down there and its all gone. They should have sold you the ten box limit, you should have called the 1-800 on the store mailer and spoke with the cust serv and make complaint against the manager. Store managers hate when the customer goes over their head and complains to corporate. |
The manager is probably hording it for himself.  The limit sucks, but at least they're selling them individually at their lowest advertised price.
If they are having the sale where I live I hope I can get over there in time. If not, I got their 10% off coupon for ammo in the mail yesterday.

We all know how tough it is locating ammo these days. Sounds to me like the manager was trying to help as many of his customers as he could. Giving the case price and doing his best to spread what little wealth of ammo he had available to him. With supplies short right now it is a no-win situation all around.

My local Dick's put up a big sign yesterday saying NO RAINCHECKS ON AMMO!!
I asked them about it and they said it was because they weren't sure if or when they would get any more of the sale stuff.... Thankfully I got a raincheck a few days earlier from another store for 20 boxes of 9mm at $7.98 each, I intend to nag the crap out of them for that... |

| I wouldn't look to Dick's or any big box retailer as a first source of ammo, but the thing I like about them is I can go in buy a pair of sneakers and some gym shorts and then a few weeks later I get a $10 certificate in the mail that I cash in for a free box of ammo and some socks. |
