D1 actually had a lot of cool lore and story. Problem was it was in grimoire cards and not the game, and some of the coolest things didn't even get a passing mention.
|
|
I know someone that apparently took some time and read a lot of the grimoire cards trying to get the story. She's convinced that the guardians are the bad guys.

Striker can charge or slam 3 times (total) during the duration of the super. Sentinel can either bubble (only with Code of the Protector skill tree selected), block, charge, or throw.

I played the story mission and strike on PS4 and really wasn't impressed. I only played as a hunter, and tried out both subclasses, but it left me underwhelmed. Maybe it was the weapons setup now. The scout rifle didn't feel like a scout, and I can't understand their thinking behind basically two primaries and a power weapon. I understand that this game isn't D1, but why try to fix what isn't broken? I haven't even preordered on xbox, and doubt I will, but after reading the few reviews on here and playing the short amount of time I did, I don't even think it'll be a day 1 buy for me.
|
|
I actually really enjoy the 2 primaries. I get there reasoning to doing it as well. They want to make the game a bigger challenge. They are trying to make us think as to what we use. I'm glad they are doing this over just making enemies bigger bullet sponges. They don't want us going in with a sleeper and ex machina and just melting everything in 10 seconds. I didn't mind the scout rifles but I loved running hand cannon auto rifle setup. And this is a super limited weapon base who knows what all the perk rolls will be and what the weapon mods will be.

View Quote I thought the hunter would be awful in PvE since it doesn't bring any utility to the table like a titan shield, sentinel bubble, or warlock rift, but the dodge saved my neck more than once. With triple jump and dodge I was able to bounce around staying alive to get revives when I was last man standing. Still not as useful as a shield or healing rift, but I didn't feel as underpowered as I expected. |

|
We've only had the opening story mission and a strike to look at, but none of the changes I've seen really benefit PVE. The majority of people play PVE; seems to me like it would make sense to make sure the PVE experience is engaging and fun.
The engaging part, I think we'll be good there with the story. The fun, I dunno about. Seems stupid to make a sniper rifle or shotgun take the same place as a rocket launcher or machine gun. Primary and energy weapons are stupid IMO, why not just use the elemental energy weapon for everything, especially for shielded enemies or elemental burns? Two primaries are unnecessary and silly for PVE, and questionable in PVP. So basically as as opposed to min/max setups we have in D1, we're gonna end up using a ton of inefficient primary DPS to kill bosses by the looks of it. Yay. Can't wait. eta - And while we haven't seen everything from the subclasses yet, there's no word whether nightstalker is gonna be available at launch, warlocks don't have Viking funeral/touch of flame anymore, there's no weapons of light, so apart from the warlock's empower rift, we get no damage increase or enemy debuff capability either. The weapons are shit, and we're weaker overall. |

Guys, remember this one very important thing concerning the beta.
It's a months old build that we got to fool around with. (Mainly so bungie could test their hardware.) I'm not defending bungo.. But for all we know, everything that we all collectively hate about the beta may have been changed/tweaked already. Here's to hoping anyway.. |

Clan mitigation goes live tomorrow. The founder of the clan will be able to move their clan officially over to D2 status.
Additionally, clan founders will now be able to select a new founder instead of them having to quit the clan in order for a new founder to be chosen. The official D2 clan system will open up a week or so before release. Lots of questions unanswered so far, but they should be answered tomorrow (like why do we have to move a clan over to D2 if it's a general Bungie clan that incorporates all games, what will happen if we play D1 as a clan but have migrated the clan to D2 already, or what's different with the D2 clan system?). |

The current system has been in place in pretty much the same way since Halo 2 or 3 if memory serves. |

New Arfcom clan is half prepped. Bungie delayed the migration until tomorrow though, so it's not active yet. Btw, if I haven't gotten you added to the OP, please let me know. Considering how we got a million requests to join and maxed out users, and had to kick people to let others join, we're making sure they're verified arfcommers this time. They'll need to post in this thread, etc.
That said, IF everyone agrees to it and there is a system to vouch for people, I would be okay with people inviting a limited amount of friends so long as they stay active players with the rest of the group. That said, unless they are also an arfcommer, if we need the space, arf members will get priority. https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Detail/2049644 https://twitter.com/BungieHelp/status/889882935054274562 EDIT: Deej's Comment on the matter: Hey, fellow Overlords! Clan housekeeping has been postponed one day, due to the extension of the Destiny 2 Beta. Tomorrow, I'll have more details on the blog, including a full suite of support documentation prepared by the kick-ass Player Support Specialist who linked me to this thread. Go test! |

The bigger appeal of Destiny for me is the open world, which looks like it'll be considerably larger than D1.
I love a good Scout rifle and the one in the Beta was seriously disappointing. But, it's a starter. I'm sure they'll be putting out some sweethearts. Looking forward to the variations in the subclasses. I'll always run a Titan first and I like the Fist of Panic (LOL). I'm wondering what variations there will be... multiple FoH that pack a little less punch vs. one major one that melts everyone around you once, but maybe you have to be closer? I like the multiple drop points. I always hated doing the open world stuff and starting in the same point all the time. I also always hated not having a map to guide around when on the planet. Hope they change that. |

View Quote That's cool and all, but there's a part of me that's screaming "NO." Competitive PVP is a minority, IMO. I can honestly say that should they focus more on the crucible and the competitive/e-sport thing at the cost of the PVE experience, I really don't see myself playing D2 all that much. That just ain't me. If I want to play competitive multiplayer, I'll go play other games that I think are already well established and do better at that kind of thing. |

I totally see them doing that. Trying to get MLG or someone to pick up competitive Destiny. Locked load outs, all modes are 4v4, scoreboard at the top of the screen showing everyone's status on both teams, established call outs for areas on the map, detailed kill feed info like who cast what super or who loaded what power weapon and where. The Countdown game mode has competitive written all over, basically taking non-respawn game modes from other games and bringing them to Destiny. That's cool and all, but there's a part of me that's screaming "NO." Competitive PVP is a minority, IMO. Waaaay to much info to ingest, understand, and still move, ID enemies and shoot. Just my opinion. But I see why they're doing it, and I don't really like the reasons for it. |

I personally think they are doing this because alot of the community has asked for it/ does it. They put locations to the map because hey every person who has been successful at trials does this. People have been asking for better after death info since year 1. They are trying to make PvP more competitive because at the end of the day that's what keeps the player base around. If I was happy with pvp I'd still be playing. I think you guys are speculating way to much into some stuff.

Does it matter who you pre-ordered through? I think I pre-ordered through Gamestop. Do I get all this? Looks like the laser rifle (BBQ gun) from CoD:AW. I'm guessing instead of overheating and requiring a cool-down it freezes up and requires a defrosting? |

View Quote The overall changes in PVP as far as how special/power ammo works now and how abilities work now is great, I'm mostly fine with that. If they're balancing the game around the competitive PVP audience, they're doing it wrong, IMO. ETA - Crucible keeps the player base around in D1 right now because for all intents and purposes, there's no real reason to go into any high level PVE. Most everyone who semi-casually plays D1 has a full set of the raid challenge mode primaries, they've completed all the challenge modes several times over, they're well stocked in materials and weapons, there's nothing left to do in D1 besides the crucible really. Supposedly after this week the featured raid playlist is going away. I haven't really logged into D1 in a couple weeks or more now because there's nothing for me to do apart from rip my hair out dealing with bullshit in the crucible, and I'm past that. In D2, a good, fun PVE experience is gonna bring more people into the game and keep more people in the game than competitive PVP *ever* will, except maybe at D2's twilight when we're in the same spot we're in currently with D1 - all the DLCs have come out, ain't shit to do besides play PVP and wait for the next game. |
