turn of the PC and when you turn it back on keep hitting either f2 or f8 or f12 (I forget which) and it should open up to the BIOS screen

Did it recognize the battery before or is this unit new to you?

If it is new it is very possible the battery connection is boogered up or the battery was left out completely.

If it has worked in the past, either the battery is dead or the connection to the battery is broken. These units come with a 1 year warranty, hopefully it is still within the 1 year or it has an extended warranty plan.

you should get a screen that comes on before the OS boots up...giving you options for power display memory and the like.
The other screens will offer "Boot from options" eg boot from external drive or boot from USB...thats not BIOS and not what you want
