WTF? Never in my 45 years have I EVER had an issue with a 4473. What the fuck do these assholes at fbi think they're doing delaying my shit for a muthafucking week? Is that even legal? Is there any INTENT to delay my Civil Rights?
Fuck James Comey !
Fuck the fbi!

Grrrrrr. Shitty as my life has been lately, and now these small, little bits of joy get snatched outta my hands too.

People make fun of wv, but since moving here my CCW gets me past the stupid 4473 delay. I get it every time (delayed that is)
Ccw, I fill it out but they don't have to call it in.. in and out in less than 5 mins most times.

NICS is more than NCIC.

Same names, same socials, and local govt not relaying proper court records are the biggest issues.

I have a bad habit of buying guns in Friday. I get a delay, ever single time.

If I transfer early in the week, usually 20 minutes or so.

Whatever they think they need to check is obviously during bank hours.

RI has a 7 day wait. It sucks, but for now , I gotta deal with it. HOWEVER, AFTER waiting 7 days, I go to pick up my new (to me) sixgun, and I'm told fbi put a delay on it. First time ever. (Also my first time buying at this particular location, a pawn shop)
It's bullshit.

There is another guy with my name, from my hometown, who's a felon. Everytime I get a NICS check, I get delayed. Now, I expect it.

It's not like they could make a notation or something after all these years...

My brother is a cop, because of this , in RI , he can skip the 7 day wait. Sadly he shares his name with a shitbag, so he gets delayed every time. Of course he STILL hasn't set up a UPIN. Derp.

I have a CCW and skip the hole NICS call in process.  But, if I didn't and kept getting delay, think I'd get on of those U-PINs mentioned on the 4473.

I thought if it was delayed more than 3 business days, the dealer was allowed to complete the sale? I don't know the current laws, I've never been delayed, and my OH CHL precludes the call-in procedure (in theory---I haven't done a 4473 since that law went into effect).

ETA, my dad used to get delayed every time (was a naturalized citizen from Canada). Drove him crazy at gun shows. My brother used to get delayed too, ended up having to get the PIN thing.

When a background check comes back as delayed the NCIS gives a suspense date to be placed on the 4473.  It's 3 business days from the date the check was submitted.  Weekends and holidays don't count.  If no response is received by the FFL the transfer can be completed on that date.  There's a block on the form for that info.  That's the Fed's procedure.  Not sure how all the states react to a federal background check that doesn't get a "approved" response.  Our local Academy Sports store will not transfer a firearm if there is no "approved" response received.  They want to see "approved" or they're not going to sell the gun.  I guess in varies from state to state and business to business.

I am an 01 FFL and once when I bought a gun from a private party  who asked me to go through the process to make them feel safe (as an FFL I'm exempt from doing 4473/NICS on guns bought through my FFL) I've was delayed three days.

Explain that one.

I no longer need a 4473

get you a 5D jig and some 80% lowers, best way to kill some time and beat the system.

Means someone with the same name is a felon.
Answer me this, here we have the foid and its unique to a person yet we still get delays. Freaking stupid. Only problem is here in IL they can't release it till they get the go ahead even after 3 days.
