Teen Critically Injured Running From Police

SAN DIEGO -- Two teens accused of threatening employees at the Ralphs supermarket in San Diego face charges, say San Diego police, and a third teen is being treated at a local hospital for possible paralysis.

According to law enforcement, the teens were out for revenge after being kicked out of the store for shoplifting. Officials said the trio returned to the supermarket in the 1000 block of University Avenue in Hillcrest at about 4 a.m. on Wednesday and began threatening employees with a knife and breaking some of the store's windows.

When police responded to a call from the store's employees, the teens allegedly ran away. As officers chased the teens, one of them jumped over a 3-foot wall, only to fall 16 feet on the other side.

The injured teen suffered injuries to his head, back and legs. Officials said he may be paralyzed as a result of the fall.

The other teens were caught by police as well and face multiple counts. The two teens were charged by police and then released into their parents' custody.

The whole area of University and 40th near Hillcrest is a really interesting place - Vietanese, black, and hispanic gangs are all active in the area. Lots of bums, dopers, hookers, and street people. Sort of the armpit of San Diego. 40th street was dug out to drop the lanes of the expressway down below grade about ten years ago. Probably where bonehead jumped.
