I am having more computer problems than I have ever had, getting ready to order a
Mac. Can anyone tell me what this problem is now, tonight when I got on the computer
the darn screen is screwy.
The left side border is straight as an arrow but the right is curved ie, like this l  (
The top and bottom border are straight also, but all the writing is nice and crisp on the
edges and the closer you get to the center of the screen it is blurry.
I have tried the setting on the front of the monitor but all it does is change the angle
of the screen or make it worse, I never had this many problems with my old IMac
Jellybean.

its not your computer. Its your monitor.

If not that its your  video card.

Are you using a CRT monitor?  That has nothing to do with your computer, just the monitor.  Get an LCD or something for cheaper than a Mac.

your CRT monitor is failing, buy a new LCD monitor

it's a lot cheaper than buying an overpriced MAC

As others have said, it's your CRT monitor.

And Macs aren't infallible.  I've got a Macbook Pro running OSX 10.5 that crashes more often than my 2 Vista and 2 XP boxes.

Crash different.

Make sure there is nothing magnetic or electrical near the monitor, have you moved stuff around on your desk lately like speakers?

Buy the Mac, their monitors NEVER fail.

Based on this post, i'd say you'd be better off with a Mac

My hard drive crashed a couple of weeks ago and I am running on a borrowed one,
this one is eight years old and is due for a replacement. I just can't decide which to
get. If it is the video card then a different monitor will do the same thing, right?

Nothing has been changed on the desk for a year or so and nothing new electronic.

It took me a sec to get that.

Do Macs have a cupholder?

It's not the video card.  Trust me on this.

Do you have a fan running right next to your monitor?  Someone else in this thread already had this idea and that's a real good way to start.

Also, real good brand new HDD are less than $100.

That's a tired cliche.

From the May Popular Mechanics:

Mac: In both the laptop and desktop showdowns, Apple’s computers were the winners. Oddly, the big difference didn’t come in our user ratings, where we expected the famously friendly Mac interface to shine. Our respondents liked the look and feel of both operating systems but had a slight preference toward OS X. In our speed trials, however, Leopard OS trounced Vista in all-important tasks such as boot-up, shutdown and program-launch times. We even tested Vista on the Macs using Apple’s platform-switching Boot Camp software—and found that both Apple computers ran Vista faster than our PCs did.

PC: Simply put, Vista proved to be a more sluggish operating system than Leopard. Our PCs installed some software faster, but in general they were slower in our time trials. Plus, both PCs showed weaker performance on third-party benchmarks than the Macs. Our biggest surprise, however, was that PCs were not the relative bargains we expected them to be. The Asus M51sr costs the same as a MacBook, while the Gateway One actually costs $300 more than an iMac. That means for the price of the Gateway you could buy an iMac, boost its hard drive to match the Gateway’s, purchase a copy of Vista to boot—and still save $100.

No, no fans or such, I have another monitor in the garage that I will try tomorrow.
LOL, this is like trying to read something on the other side of a fish bowl.

Did they pick the most expensive Gateway or something?

i just priced out two comparable systems, one on www.apple.com, the other at www.dell.com.  Dells are usually more expensive than Gateways.  The Dell wasn't on any type of sale or special.

Apple Macbook
2.1ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
13" screen
1 gb of ram
120gb hard drive
OS 10
other basic features - $1099
adding one more gb of ram makes the price $1199, and it's still one gb less than the Dell

Dell Inspiron 1420
2.0 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
14.1" screen
3gb of ram
250gb hard drive
MS Vista Premium
other basic features (same things the Apple has) - $949

I am not saying that Macs suck or I wouldn't use one, but they are more expensive than PCs.
